Facts
About Me: I was born in
Norfolk, VA and lived in Virginia all my life. I moved to
Fayetteville when my husband was stationed here in 2005. I have
no children of my own, but my students fill that space in my
heart. I also have a dog, two cats, and a rabbit. My hobbies are
reading, writing stories, and sewing. I also adore all the fine
arts and go to plays and musical performances whenever I can.
I’ve been involved in dramatics since I was seven years old. (My
first role was Mary Poppins.) In
college I worked in every avenue of theatre including musicals,
Shakespeare, and children’s plays. I love that I get to work
with both my favorite subjects, English and Drama, every day. |

Education: Bachelor
of Arts in English and Creative Writing from Sweet Briar
College, Sweet Briar, VA
Experience: I began
teaching in public school in Virginia in 2002. I taught in both
rural and inner city schools before moving to Fayetteville. This
is my third year at FCS. I teach sixth grade Literature and
Grammar. I also teach Junior High Drama and High School Drama. |

Drama
Dear Students and
Parents,
Welcome
to Junior High Drama! We have a very busy year ahead of us. This
semester all junior high drama students will attend class five
days a week. Our main project is our play, which will be
performed at the end of November or the beginning of December.
We will also do short skits and other fun projects to perform
for the class or select groups of students. The students are
responsible for creating and performing all aspects of these
projects. |
|
Because we don’t
really have “quizzes” or “tests” in drama, participation is
essential. A participation grade is given daily and is based on
how active the student is in class. Participation makes up 50%
of the drama grade. The other 50% is project assignments. These
include individual and group projects. For instance, the first
project due this year is a two person scene. The students will
pair up and be responsible for memorizing their lines to perform
for the class.
The only
materials needed for drama are a folder and pencil for notes and
scripts. I may call on students to help with props for scenes,
but this is totally voluntary and requires parental permission.
The main thing
you need for drama is a good attitude and an open mind. I look
forward to a wonderful year.
Sincerely,
Mary Dunlevy |
