SENIORS '06

Zambia, Africa Mission Trip Updates

Pray for: our safety, nice weather, that we all have good health, dependable transportation, that we have unseasonably cool weather, safe airplane rides, patience for one another, that we will display the fruit of the spirit to others, that the gospel will reach the unreached, that we will see the BIG 5 Game,  that we learn to appreciate one another.  Pray for each senior that they are able to hear what God wants to say to them about their future as they prepare to leave FCS and be in the world, that we will have open hearts and ears for whatever God wants to say.  That our pride would not prevent us from repenting from sin and changing.

Mrs. Peters called this morning and reported that they have shown “The Jesus Film” to 4 villages for a total of approximately 2,700 villagers.  At one school 1000 came and about 1/3 came forward to make a profession of faith.  They met a few kids at one place that were Christians but felt isolated and alone because of their faith.  Our students will now be pen pals with these children to encourage them in their faith.  They are having great devotions.

They have enjoyed a river cruise and were able to see some wild animals.  Speaking of wild things . . . .David Haley came screaming into the tent because he thought there was a snake in their tent.  After they ran to check it out it turned out to only be a frog. She thinks they may have plans for the frog and her tent or sleeping bag!

The bungee jumping went well and everyone is safe.  Two in particular that she mentioned were Lacie Rose and Dale Hockenberry.  She said that Lacie was at the bridge ready to jump and was scared with a death grip on her equipment.  She finally did it, so she will have stories to tell when she gets back!  Mrs. Peters said that Dale screamed all the way down when he jumped.

Mrs. Peters sounds good and very happy-much to be thankful for and God is certainly blessing them.

Greetings from Africa...The group had to pack up and leave the campsite early due to rain and flooding of the tents. They called on Saturday to say that they were traveling all day back to Livingston a day early to avoid high water. Everyone is in good spirits and taking the weather in stride. They went back to the school that had denied them at first and Praise the Lord...there were around 800 people in attendance that night. They are so amazed at the Lord's ability to move mountains. There were a large number of souls saved that night and many more seeds planted. The Lord is so faithful! Please continue to pray for our Seniors and their Chaperones.

Two teams were sent out last night.  They had at least 200 villagers at each location. Approximately 100 villagers at each village accepted the Lord. Today, they went to pass out the school supplies our elementary students provided.  They were very appreciative.  One school had told our group that they would not be allowed to come in and show the Jesus film.  When they saw the supplies that we had brought the principal changed his mind and is going to let them come.  He even made it mandatory for the teachers to attend.

They are enjoying water fights and seeing crocodiles. Continue to pray as they share His love.

3/2 They have set up camp and our team is currently playing with about 50 village children. Mrs. Peters said our Seniors have been wonderful  playing with the kids and making new friends They will go tonight to two different villages and show “The Jesus Film” and present the Gospel.  Please continue to pray for their first opportunity to present the Gospel.  They will get back to camp around midnight. It is 100º today. As usual the kids have tried some pranks and two guys put a leaf bug on one of the girls.  She said there would probably be some payback!  That bug was probably meant for Mrs. Peter’s sleeping bag but didn’t quite get there!  It rained this morning but has dried out now.  Everyone is fine and healthy. She said the view is beautiful with the lake and the mountains.
3/1 - 9:30 a.m. EST

Mrs. Peters reports that they were in a thunderstorm with heavy rain all night.  The boys tent was flooded with 4” of water. They are still traveling to the village and expect to arrive in about 2 hours.  Everyone is doing fine,  healthy and no one is homesick.  Last night the group prayed for a man who had AIDS and he accepted the Lord. Praise the Lord!  Temperatures are still in the 80’s.  Please pray that it won’t rain any more-they need dry sleeping bags!

2/28 - 8:45 a.m.

8:45 am-Mrs. Peters called and it’s 4:00 pm their time.  They left at 7:00 am and they are still traveling to Kafwambila.  The weather is 20º cooler than last year. All is well.
