MIDDLE SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION
The Middle School PE program falls into the elective category. Students may have PE two days/week or three days/week.
The main focus at this level is fitness, gaining greater proficiency in their skills and application in game situations.
INTERMEDIATE BAND (6TH AND 7TH GRADES)
The Intermediate Band students incorporate all of the basic musical concepts learned in previous years with a greater focus on more advanced rhythm patterns and expanding individual note ranges. There is a greater focus on personal intonation and articulation as well as group balance. These students perform at the Fall Festival, Christmas Concert, various chapels and the Spring Concert. They are also invited to audition for the Southeastern District Middle School All-District Band, perform for Solo/Ensemble competitions and join the UNC-Pembroke Honor Band as well as participate in the FCS Drum line and Pep Bands.
JUNIOR HIGH CHORUS (6TH and 7TH GRADES)
This class is designed for the learner to develop enrichment, music appreciation and to refine their skills. Vocal training, sight reading, three part harmony, and choreography are developed in this class. Evaluations and performances include groups and individuals.
JUNIOR HIGH ART
The Art curriculum is based on God's beauty and how artistry shows God's nature of creativity. Students will develop tools to glorify our Heavenly Father with drawing, painting, and other techniques of art.
STUDY SKILLS
Students will learn step by step procedures for time management and the development of study skills for students. Topics include but are not limited to learning styles, how to study, keeping track of schoolwork, note taking, prioritizing & decision making skills, critical & creative thinking, procrastination, listening & paraphrasing.
