The entire academic year is filled with activities and extracurricular events that are designed to build a sense of family on the FCS campus and strengthen the faith of our students and teachers.
The high school has events almost every month of the year. We kicklick off the new school year with a Back-to-School retreat at Camp Dixie. In September, we take class trips to Washington DC, Charleston, SC, and Philadelphia, PA. October brings the Fall Festival - our school's fundraiser - which students actively participate in. We also have Homecoming and Spirit Week in October. In December, the music department hosts a Christmas program. In January, the sophomore class sponsors a Winter Party and at the end of February, the senior class goes on the Senior Mission Trip. Past classes have gone to Russia, Peru, China, Zambia, Mexico, Thailand and Belize. Then at the end of April there is the Junior/Senior Prom and Graduation takes place in late May.
Throughout the year, high school students have the ability to join a number of different clubs and organizations corresponding to their interests. Clubs on campus include RUSH (Reaching Unreached Students Harvest), Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Warriors for Life (Pro-Life activist group), the campus newspaper, yearbook, National Honor Society, Student Council and a Speech and Debate team. Students can also be involved in our extensive fine arts program through drama, band, pep band, drum line, orchestra and chorus offered at almost all of the academic levels. Students can also try their hand at Brain Game - a quiz-bowl television show taped in Raleigh for freshmen and sophomores.
There are also a number of activities that students who want to help enhance the spiritual climate on campus can become involved. Juniors and seniors can be interviewed and selected for the school's Mentoring Program. Mentors meet regularly freshmen and sophomores to disciple and help, helping them grow in their walk with the Lord. Students interested in music can audition for the Praise Band which plays in bi-weekly chapels or help plan and organize student led chapels.
While not as active as the high school, elementary and junior high students are offered many activities as well. Junior high activities include a Back-to-School retreat at Camp Dixie, cookouts, talent shows, a Christmas party, and a spring outing that junior high students help plan and organize. There is also a junior high praise band that helps lead chapels and an active student council. In the elementary school, we have frequent skate nights, and movie and popcorn nights in addition to the exciting and fun Warrior Youth Sports leagues.
WYBL, WYSL and WYCL (the Warrior Youth Basketball, Soccer and Cheerleading Leagues) are available for elementary students to help teach fundamentals of the game. Elementary Dance is also offered to girls which involves learning both lyrical and classical dance.
