Thank you for you interest in  STEM Literacy Camp that Mrs. Trevino will be hosting at FCS this summer break!

At this summer camp, students will be integrating their literacy skills with areas of science and math, while

using critical thinking to engineer tangible products, and document their projects using technological tools. It is a

full immersion of cross curricular skills!  There will be a different lesson each day that will begin with a 10 minute team

building STEM Challenge.  Students will work together to overcome an obstacle in a limited time frame.  After the students

are warmed up, I will guide the students in an interactive read aloud of a book that we’ll use for the basis of our projects and

activities for that day.  Students will work in a team to identify a problem in the story either with the character,

a problem in nature, or a structural problem. Students will then use the Engineering Design Process to come up with a solution

for the problem and create a physical prototype or engage in a science experiment that reflects the events of the story.

This camp will be an awesome way to keep your students learning over the summer break!

Camp will take place Mon-Fri of the following weeks listed above from 9am-12pm.

Students will need to bring a water bottle & a snack.  Each week during the summer will have different lessons.
